Lefty was true to the stories you hear - kind, genuine, and willing to do what he could to help new anglers succeed. In that spirit - we worked with Lefty's daughter to acquire a piece of his personal kit, and upcycled it to help raise money to fund gear for kids.

About the Project

Lefty's Rod Bag

I reached out to Lefty's daughter after he passed away - hoping a piece of his personal kit would turn up in time. When this did, (and it was hand-signed!) I knew it was perfect for this project. I bought it directly from her, with her blessing for this effort.

Upcycled

With incredible care, I slowly started to break down the bag. As I did, soil from his adventures scattered on my bench. The vintage Cordura was still just as strong as it had been years before... and there was just enough of it for a special collection of pieces.

Given New Life

The signature panel fit nicely in parallel with fresh Cordura from our stock - and I used this to make a one of a kind Rod Quiver (Mark-2, new this year). 

The Red Cordura strip gave me enough material to build a series of No-Kink Reel Covers. Each of these got a relic from his bag on the flap, with a leather patch featuring Lefty's signature.
