The Best Streamer Patterns – Top Three Thursday August 2, 2018 – Posted in: Top 3 Thursday – Tags: , ,

What are the three best streamer patterns out there?

Streamers have always been some of the most effective patterns for all species of fish. Additionally, they’re your best bet for getting into the biggest fish out there. With somewhat of a trout streamer renaissance happening over the past decade, the number of patters out there is overwhelming. Here are our three favorite patterns. What would your top three be?

  • Clouser Minnow Easy to tie, streamlined, and scalable to catch anything from bluegill to blue marlin, Bob Clouser’s creation is a classic. Riding hook point up, this fly can be drug across the bottom or stripped quickly to present a simple baitfish silhouette to any fish.
  • Lynch’s Double D The Drunk and Disorderly is a fly that fishes itself. It is big, flashy, wobbly, and gnarly. With even only a little bit of skill, the Double D is one of the best wounded baitfish imitations out there. And fish can’t resist it.
  • Wooly Bugger If I have to tell you why this is one of the best, if not the very best streamers (or flies) out there, there’s no hope…

So, what did we leave out? What are your favorite streamer patterns? What would your top three look like? Let us know below!
