Awards for Better American Gear July 17, 2018 – Posted in: In The News – Tags: , , ,

For three days in July, the premier brands in the fly fishing industry gather together at the International Fly Tackle Dealer (IFTD) Show. It is an opportunity for the angling world to see what is on the horizon for fly fishing gear and conservation initiatives.

At Vedavoo, we were happy to attend and display our growing line of hand-built slings, packs, and accessories this year in Orlando. IFTD is always a great time spent with old friends, a chance to meet new people, and a look into what is going on in the world of fly fishing.

While those experiences were excellent, the 2018 show brought some other exciting moments.

Vedavoo was presented with two prestigious awards at IFTD:

  • The Distinguished Service Award from Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing
  • The Gray’s Best Award from Gray’s Sporting Journal

Project Healing Waters (PHWFF) recognized the contributions made towards their work through Vedavoo Reel Service Project IV. Reel Service IV saw the collaboration of some of the top artists in fly fishing, the mission of PHWFF, and American-made gear from Vedavoo. Custom painted panels were turned into Mainstream Messenger Bags. These one of a kind bags were given away to randomly selected individuals who donated to PHWFF. The proceeds assist the organization as they use fly fishing to help disabled veterans.

Gray’s Sporting Journal chose ourRod Holster as one of their Grey’s Best Accessories for 2018. This simple and inexpensive ($25) piece of gear allows walk-and-wade anglers to carry another fly rod. Whether it be freshwater rivers or saltwater flats, the Rod Holster provides an unobtrusive solution for bringing that second rig with you. Gray’s called it “ideal for any angling scenario that brings with it a hint of the unknown.”

Scott and the rest of the Vedavoo team are so humbled and so proud of these awards. It is amazing to be highlighted among such a remarkable group as those who comprise the fly fishing industry. While we’ve never set out with the intent to garner accolades, recognition like this is a testament to better American gear.
