Durable Gear for the Road Less Traveled

Ryan was born and raised in San Diego and at young age his father introduced him to fresh and saltwater fishing. His natural ability to catch fish – must be from his Norwegian heritage. It did not long for Ryan to become a fishing rat, often begging his parents to drop him off at all hours of the day to one of the many reservoirs around San Diego. At fourteen Ryan began his 10 year career working as a deckhand for several sportfishing boats out of SeaForth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Ryan was planning on being a “lifer” on the boats and was working to get his captains license until the tragic loss of a close family member in 2001. It was at this point Ryan decided life was too short and began traveling the world to experience something other than life on a boat.

In 2003 Ryan was accepted to the University of Montana where he spent his free time with a rod in his hand searching the pristine blue-ribbon waters west of the Rockies while earning his BA degree in photojournalism.

When not working as a photographer for The Bulletin, a daily newspaper located near the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in beautiful Bend, Oregon, Ryan can be found looking off the beaten path to one of the areas many high mountain lakes or streams looking for untouched water and epic hatches.

Words to Live By: Know no Limits. Remain faceless, it’s not about the person, it’s about the fish. Stay humble, everyone is somebody.
